Today is National Sorry Day.
This year’s theme, From Sorry to Action, marks 29 years since the Bringing Them Home report was tabled and reminds us that acknowledgement without action is not enough. Many of the report’s recommendations remain unmet, and time is running out for Stolen Generations survivors to see justice.
At Saints College, this day holds deep significance. Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people learn across our campuses, and we recognise our responsibility to move beyond words, through listening, truth telling and action that supports healing, dignity and belonging.
As we move into National Reconciliation Week, guided by the theme All In, we’re reminded that reconciliation is a shared journey, requiring commitment from all of us.
More to come later this week, as we share the meaningful ways our campuses are marking this important time.

In celebration of Education Week in Victoria, we are excited to showcase the new STEM and LEGO Ed elective for our junior and middle years at our Fitzroy North campus. 👷🧰
LEGO is an incredible educational tool to support STEM, cars and critical, thinking, social skills and collaboration.
Here’s how our students are engaging with the program:
✅ Middle years students are working on AI and Computer Science skills through building and coding Battle Bots. 🤖
✅ Junior years students are embedding key science skills through the LEGO Ed Science kits to support tangible, hands on application of physics, chemistry, biology and design technology.
LEGO Ed provides teachers with incredible curriculum resources for facilitating deep learning while having fun, building and connecting with each other through play.
We’re excited to see where this initiative takes our young innovators next!

🎤Saints Got Talent!
On Friday, young people from across our campuses came together at @kindredstudios for our inaugural Saints Got Talent. It was the first time we’ve gathered in an offsite studio space, creating a powerful opportunity for our young people to meet, connect and build relationships with peers from different campuses.
Music has a unique way of bringing people together. Throughout the day, young people bonded over a shared passion for creativity, supported one another, and found connection through a universal language. With staff alongside them offering encouragement, fostering connection and creating a safe, supportive environment, young people were able to prepare, collaborate and step confidently into the moment.
The performances were streamed across campuses during Edmund Rice Founders Day, allowing our whole community to come together and celebrate the talent, effort and commitment of the young people involved.
What stood out most was the courage on display: young people backing themselves, supporting one another, and showing up with authenticity and pride.
We are incredibly proud of what they achieved on the day and the way they embodied connection, participation and community. 💛

The Food Studies program at our Ballarat campus sits within the VPC and VCE Vocational Major, delivering hands-on, real-world learning through Work Related Skills and Personal Development Skills. Led by our educators, Emma and Kento, young people in Mocha class, plan meals, shop, cook, eat together and clean up as a team, building practical skills they will use beyond school.
Along the way, students develop literacy and numeracy by reading recipes, measuring ingredients, budgeting, and problem solving in real time. They also build confidence, communication, teamwork and independence in a safe, supportive environment.
Food becomes more than cooking. It becomes connection, culture, routine and belonging. For many young people, this space feels like family, and that sense of purpose shows in stronger engagement and attendance.

At our Ballarat and Bungaree campuses, we’re taking a practical step towards sustainability that supports both wellbeing and our environment. 💧🌱
Through our partnership with @centralhighlandswater, our young people have received 130 stainless steel water bottles as part of the Choose Tap Water program, encouraging filtered tap water over single-use plastic.
With water fountains available across our campuses, this initiative supports healthier choices throughout the day, reducing reliance on sugary drinks while cutting down plastic waste.
We’re grateful to community partners like @centralhighlandswater, whose collaboration helps make this work possible and supports our young people to play an active role in shaping the communities they belong to. 💚

Welcome back to Term 2! 💛
We look forward to welcoming our young people back on campus tomorrow. As we kick off the term, our Student Support Group meetings already underway, creating a safe space to listen, connect, and better understand the barriers our young people may be facing and how we can work together to overcome them.
This “Love Yourself” artwork from our Geelong campus says it perfectly... when young people feel safe, seen and supported, learning can grow 🌱
Looking forward to the term ahead!

World Autism Awareness Day is a reminder that true inclusion goes beyond awareness. 💙
We believe belonging begins with expecting difference and taking intentional action to create learning environments where every young person can thrive.
Through flexible pathways, choice, and our Inclusive Education Framework, we actively design our school to support diverse ways of thinking, learning, and being.
Inclusion is not passive. It is something we build into our practice every day, so all young people feel seen, supported, and valued.

This week we celebrate the cultural diversity and multiculturalism that shape who we are at Saints College. We honour the Traditional Owners of the lands across our campuses and recognise the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who enrich our community, alongside young people from cultures all around the world.
Harmony Week reminds us that inclusiveness, respect and belonging grow when we embrace the diverse backgrounds, identities and lived experiences of all our young people.

A number of women from our Saints College staff cohort were honoured to attend the International Women’s Day Lunch at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We loved hearing from Dame Jacinda Ardern, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, whose empathetic and values‑driven approach to leadership has inspired people around the world. She was funny, warm and refreshingly honest, sharing stories about everything from walking out of Parliament without a ride home to an Uber Eats order that never arrived because the driver thought her name was a hoax.
Jacinda spoke about humility, the confidence gap, and why empathy, kindness, curiosity and bravery are not “soft skills”, but the qualities that create meaningful, lasting change. As a school built on relational practice and connection, her message resonated deeply with our team.
At Saints College, we work alongside young people who have faced significant barriers to education, helping them access safe, inclusive and transformative learning pathways. Jacinda’s reminder that “optimism is true moral courage” felt especially powerful in this context.
She left us with a thought we won’t forget:
“You never know what you’re capable of until you’re doing it… You can do extraordinary things if you just get out of your own way.”

Meet Banjo, our calm, cuddly and incredibly intuitive Therapy Dog. At 8 years old, he has an important role at Saints, supporting our young people’s wellbeing through calm connection and emotional presence. 🥹✨
A working day for Banjo involves him and Robin (his human owner) combing through the campus and providing support where necessary. With guidance from Robin, Banjo sits among our young people, offering unconditional acceptance. This means there is no judgment from Banjo, a principle we live by here at Saints as we reinforce unconditional positive regard.
Robin says, “It’s a great gig for Banjo – he gets love, pats and all the attention.” Our young people love to pat Banjo; he`s our local celebrity. 🤩
We appreciate Banjo and Robin for their dedicated commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our young people, so they can achieve success within the learning environment. 🎉🎉
