Be respected

and listened to

no matter what

This NAIDOC Week, we stand together to recognise, celebrate and honour the strength, culture and enduring contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme calls on all of us to listen, learn and walk alongside First Nations voices, acknowledging the past while committing to a shared future grounded in respect and connection.

At Saints College, this commitment is reflected in the actions we take every day. As part of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy 2026–2030, we are working to amplify First Nations voices, knowledges and perspectives across our 8 campuses. Our Koorie Culture Community at our Geelong campus continues to grow, delivering a school-wide program that supports First Nations young people and invites our whole community to find common ground through reconciliation.

This work strengthens connection, identity and belonging, ensuring all young people feel seen, valued and empowered. We continue to listen, learn and take action. Reconciliation is not a moment; it is a shared responsibility. 🌿

And that’s a wrap for Term 2 at Saints! 👏

Our Fitzroy North College hosted the Saints Showcase, an event that brought together our young people, staff and community to celebrate a semester of learning.

We enjoyed yummy snacks cooked by our Life Skills classes, LEGO robots from our STEM classes, art displays, music performances from our Creative Arts elective, and presentations from young people embarking on Extended Investigations of their chosen interests.

A wonderful way to close out the term and celebrate a semester of learning together. 🤝

When young people are given the space to create, incredible things happen. ✨

Young people from flexible learning settings across Australia recently came together at Bakehouse Studios in Melbourne for a special songwriting workshop, preparing original songs for performance at the Doing School Differently conference.

Delivered in collaboration with AAFIE, APRA SongMakers and Saints College, the workshop provided a unique opportunity for creativity, connection and skill-building. Participants were mentored by APRA SongMakers artists katie.with ton (All Our Exes Live in Texas), Jackson Phelan (RAT!hammock) and Jazz Johnston (Jeane), with additional support from AAFIE’s Dale Murray and Megan Hall, APRA’s Al Parkinson, and LWB’s Phi Theodoros.

SongMakers is an intensive program focused on the creative process, where prominent Australian songwriters and music producers' mentor young creatives to write and record original songs. The program creates valuable learning opportunities and access to industry professionals that may not otherwise be available, particularly in regional areas, resulting in the creation and performance of original songs. 🎶

Today marks Eid, a culturally and spiritually significant day for many in our Saints College community.

We acknowledge and celebrate the cultural and faith identities of our staff and young people across all campuses. Inclusive education is central to who we are, and recognising days like today is one of the ways we build respectful, welcoming learning communities.

Eid Mubarak to all who are celebrating!

Today is National Sorry Day.

This year’s theme, From Sorry to Action, marks 29 years since the Bringing Them Home report was tabled and reminds us that acknowledgement without action is not enough. Many of the report’s recommendations remain unmet, and time is running out for Stolen Generations survivors to see justice.

At Saints College, this day holds deep significance. Many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people learn across our campuses, and we recognise our responsibility to move beyond words, through listening, truth telling and action that supports healing, dignity and belonging.

As we move into National Reconciliation Week, guided by the theme All In, we’re reminded that reconciliation is a shared journey, requiring commitment from all of us.

More to come later this week, as we share the meaningful ways our campuses are marking this important time.

In celebration of Education Week in Victoria, we are excited to showcase the new STEM and LEGO Ed elective for our junior and middle years at our Fitzroy North campus. 👷🧰

LEGO is an incredible educational tool to support STEM, cars and critical, thinking, social skills and collaboration.

Here’s how our students are engaging with the program:

✅ Middle years students are working on AI and Computer Science skills through building and coding Battle Bots. 🤖
✅ Junior years students are embedding key science skills through the LEGO Ed Science kits to support tangible, hands on application of physics, chemistry, biology and design technology.

LEGO Ed provides teachers with incredible curriculum resources for facilitating deep learning while having fun, building and connecting with each other through play.

We’re excited to see where this initiative takes our young innovators next!
