World Autism Awareness Day is a reminder that true inclusion goes beyond awareness. π
We believe belonging begins with expecting difference and taking intentional action to create learning environments where every young person can thrive.
Through flexible pathways, choice, and our Inclusive Education Framework, we actively design our school to support diverse ways of thinking, learning, and being.
Inclusion is not passive. It is something we build into our practice every day, so all young people feel seen, supported, and valued.

A number of women from our Saints College staff cohort were honoured to attend the International Womenβs Day Lunch at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We loved hearing from Dame Jacinda Ardern, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, whose empathetic and valuesβdriven approach to leadership has inspired people around the world. She was funny, warm and refreshingly honest, sharing stories about everything from walking out of Parliament without a ride home to an Uber Eats order that never arrived because the driver thought her name was a hoax.
Jacinda spoke about humility, the confidence gap, and why empathy, kindness, curiosity and bravery are not βsoft skillsβ, but the qualities that create meaningful, lasting change. As a school built on relational practice and connection, her message resonated deeply with our team.
At Saints College, we work alongside young people who have faced significant barriers to education, helping them access safe, inclusive and transformative learning pathways. Jacindaβs reminder that βoptimism is true moral courageβ felt especially powerful in this context.
She left us with a thought we wonβt forget:
βYou never know what youβre capable of until youβre doing itβ¦ You can do extraordinary things if you just get out of your own way.β

Meet Banjo, our calm, cuddly and incredibly intuitive Therapy Dog. At 8 years old, he has an important role at Saints, supporting our young peopleβs wellbeing through calm connection and emotional presence. π₯Ήβ¨
A working day for Banjo involves him and Robin (his human owner) combing through the campus and providing support where necessary. With guidance from Robin, Banjo sits among our young people, offering unconditional acceptance. This means there is no judgment from Banjo, a principle we live by here at Saints as we reinforce unconditional positive regard.
Robin says, βItβs a great gig for Banjo β he gets love, pats and all the attention.β Our young people love to pat Banjo; he`s our local celebrity. π€©
We appreciate Banjo and Robin for their dedicated commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our young people, so they can achieve success within the learning environment. ππ

Food is fuel, especially for learning. π
Our menus are designed by our kitchen crew in collaboration with our young people. By offering visible menus and a variety of choices, while maintaining a level of consistency, our young people have access to quality meals that help them stay focused and ready to participate actively in school life.
During our Student Support Group Meetings (SSG), we not only identify our young peopleβs barriers to learning but also consider barriers that may include foods, textures and smells. In this way, young people have agency and voice in their whole school experience, which food is a big part of.
Every young person at our seven physical campuses is welcomed to a daily meal prepared by our kitchen teams. Sharing food together strengthens relationships, supports wellbeing and reflects our commitment to equity, ensuring all young people have the nourishment they need to engage fully in their learning.
Our menu includes vegetarian and glutenβfree options each day, as well as the option for young people to bring food from home if they prefer. π±β¨

We are incredibly proud to see Dakota and her family featured in the Herald Sun as part of a national conversation about supporting young peopleβs mental health.
The article highlights a critical issue: millions of young Australians are expected to face anxiety and depression by age 20, and experts are calling for major investment in school based programs focused on bullying, racism, resilience and social and emotional wellbeing. These priorities strongly align with the work we do with young people every day, across our 8 campuses, to give them the wraparound support to reconnect with education.
Australian teenagers are increasingly experiencing depression and anxiety, a reality Dakotaβs mum knows all too well. She shared that Dakotaβs struggles began at just nine years old and intensified through bullying, school refusal and multiple moves between mainstream schools. By the time she found Saints College, Dakota was, in her words, βa mess,β but she says the wraparound mental, social and emotional support at Saints, along with individualised learning and genuine engagement, changed everything. βSchools need to be better equipped. We need to start from the ground up and if we can save even one child, itβs worth it,β she said, adding that without action βwe are going to have a lot of sick adults.β Today, she describes Dakota as being in a much better place, reconnecting with creativity and confidence, and says simply, βThey [Saints] are amazing. I wish there were more schools like them.β
We are deeply grateful for Dakota, her family, and our incredible staff who make this work possible every day.

In celebration of National Youth Week, weβre taking a moment to look back and honour the voices, achievements and growth of our young people.
This throwback features last yearβs inaugural Awards Presentation, where we recognised the resilience, progress and accomplishments of young people across our 8 campuses.
Every day, we empower young people to have agency in their learning journey. That might look like choosing how and where they learn best, starting a club, or exploring an industry taster or academy partnership opportunity.
However that looks for each young person, we see and celebrate the growth of every unique individual.

Welcome back to all our young people for 2026! π
Across our seven campuses and our online campus, BlendED, we know that returning to school can bring a mix of emotions. Excitement, nerves, anticipation, the joy of reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. Every feeling is welcome today, and so is every young person.
Classes are starting the day with Circle Time and a Working Agreement to set shared expectations for the day ahead. These daily routines establish rhythm, routine and trust, and set the wheels in motion for a successful year.
To all our parents and carers, thank you for trusting us with your young person. We look forward to welcoming them all today and wish them a wonderful start to 2026. π

πβ¨ Weβre getting ready to open our doors to young people tomorrow! β¨π
As part of our startβofβyear preparation across all eight Saints College campuses, weβre holding Student Support Group (SSG) meetings β an important part of how we build strong relationships from day one.
SSG meetings bring young people, parents and carers onto campus to meet with their teaching partnership β their teacher and education support staff β to:
β¨ Put a face to the name and build early trust
β¨ Set expectations and meaningful goals for the term
β¨ Share interests, strengths and hopes for the year
β¨ Identify challenges and discuss strategies to navigate them
β¨ Explore the curriculum and set the pace for learning
β¨ Build common ground through a shared understanding of what success can look like
Every young person arrives with their own unique story. SSGs help us understand how to best support each individual so we can offer learning that is flexible, engaging and responsive to their needs.
Starting the term this way means young people walk into Day 1 feeling more prepared, connected and confident, knowing exactly whoβs in their corner for 2026.
We canβt wait to welcome our young people back into our learning communities for 2026. π
